COMMUNICATION AND OUTREACH VOLUNTEERS

Play a key role in written and visual communications, social networking, public speaking, and event planning to promote FLOW’s vision for the Olentangy

Children’s Program Presenters
Time Commitment: Occasional on-call
Location: various locations throughout the watershed
Tasks: prepare and present information about the watershed at schools and festivals
Skills: previous experience with environmental education is helpful, but not necessary

Festival Volunteer(s)
Time Commitment: 3-4 times on weekends during the summer
Location: festivals like Riverfest, Rosefest & Comfest
Tasks: set up tables and tents, distribute literature, and represent FLOW to the general public
Skills: enjoy interacting with people, some lifting may be required

Literature Distributor(s)
Time Commitment: occasional on-call
Location: libraries, campus, other public places
Tasks: distribute FLOW newsletters and event flyers to various public places
Skills: a car would be helpful but not necessary

Newsletter Editor
Time Commitment: 6-8 hours quarterly
Location: in your own home or at FLOW office
Tasks: compile and edit newsletter articles, coordinate with newsletter designer and printer
Skills: writing, editing, knowledge of publishing process (helpful but not essential)

Photography Coordinator and Volunteer Photographers
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month
Location: at your own home or the FLOW office
Tasks: develop a database of watershed photographs that can be used on the website or in FLOW literature, take photos at FLOW events
Skills: previous experience in photography is helpful, but not necessary

Proofreader(s)
Time Commitment: occasional on-call
Location: in your own home or at FLOW office
Tasks: proofread newsletters, funding appeals, web content, and grant proposals
Skills: proofreading

Public Speakers
Time Commitment: occasional on-call
Location: various locations throughout the watershed
Tasks: represent FLOW to groups that have requested a presentation
Skills: public speaking, PowerPoint (will train)

Social Network Coordinator
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week
Location: at your own home
Tasks: coordinate Facebook, Wiki, Twitter, and other social network tools
Skills: experience in social networking

Wiki Collaborator(s)
Time Commitment: variable
Location: at your own home
Tasks: research, observe, and photograph the river/tributaries and post information to FLOW’s watershed wiki
Skills: photography, wiki (will train if necessary)
